What is Investing?

Think of investing as setting aside to make more money in the future. Now, there are different things you can invest in. Some of the more popular ones you will hear are stocks, mutual funds, and bonds. These are all different in their own way, but have potential to make you money!

What is a Stock?

Stocks, often bought in “shares”, is fractional ownership of a company.

What is the “Stock Market?”

The stock market is the trading platform on which shares of “stock” are bought and sold.

What is a “Blue Chip?”

A blue chip is a nationally or internationally recognized and well- established financially sound company that has a large capitalization (total dollar market value of a company’s outstanding share of stock) and trades on a major stock exchange.

What is a Mutual Fund?

A mutual fund is an investment vehicle that pools money from multiple investors to purchase a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities (according to the fund's stated strategy).

They are typically professionally managed and come with fees.
